Gears of War: E-Day Horde Siege Class Builds
Assault, Marksman, Medic, and Breacher loadout advice for multi-squad PvE.
Horde Siege in Gears of War: E-Day assigns every player one of four classes — Assault, Marksman, Medic, and Breacher — before multi-squad PvE objectives unfold across Kalona. Class kits are separate from campaign character picks: Marcus Fenix nostalgia does not auto-unlock Assault mastery. This page translates revealed weapons from the Weapons Overview into pre-launch theorycraft loadouts labeled clearly until Open Beta validates tuning.
Read the Horde Siege guide for objective flow, E-Hole containment, and voice comm etiquette. Cross-check weapon tiers on the weapon tier list after August 6–10, 2026 sessions.
Class priority overview (theorycraft)
| Class | Theorycraft priority | Core weapon bias | Squad role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Medic | Highest — always fill first | Sidearm + sustain | Revives and stabilization |
| Breacher | High on E-Hole maps | Incinerator + Gut Puncher | Close burst and seal support |
| Marksman | High on open maps | Longshot | Variant picks and overwatch |
| Assault | Flexible fill | Lancer-class automatic | Entry and sustained DPS |
Medic under-representation ends lobbies faster than missing damage. Queue with friends and assign Medic before chasing Breacher highlight reels.
Assault build (theorycraft)
Primary: Lancer-class automatic rifle with Active Reload discipline.
Secondary: Gnasher or sidearm for indoor transitions when Incinerator ammo is unavailable to Assault kits.
Utility: Frag grenades for softening first wave spawns; save Gut Puncher-style explosives for Breacher if your fireteam lacks one.
Play loop: Entry new zones first, draw aggro while Marksman tags Feral variants, then fall back to damaged cover before micro-destruction collapses your angle. Assault players lead E-Hole approaches but should not solo seal — stand off until Breacher clears lips.
Synergy: Pairs with Medic who tracks Assault overextensions. Reference Campaign Co-op entry timing without confusing PvE AI spawns with Siege logic.
Marksman build (theorycraft)
Primary: Longshot for variant priority and multi-squad lane overwatch.
Secondary: Lancer-class rifle for fallback when sniper nest cover degrades.
Utility: Smoke or stagger tools if kit provides them — use to cover Medic revive paths, not for solo flanks.
Play loop: Hold two sightlines maximum; call Feral Locust before they leave emergence animations. Rotate after confirmed kills — camping one window fails when secondary E-Holes open. Details on targets in Enemies: Locust & Feral.
Synergy: Assault draws fire down-range; Breacher handles CQC when Marksman cannot drop variants in time.
Medic build (theorycraft)
Primary: Reliable sidearm with fast swap — precision optional, consistency mandatory.
Secondary: Lancer-class rifle at reduced aggression; Medics win by staying upright, not topping damage charts.
Utility: Smoke, stim, or shield tools depending on final kit reveal; prioritize revive range and damage reduction passives if selectable.
Play loop: Trail Assault and Breacher by one cover piece, ping downed players immediately, and path revives using rear routes from Movement & Cover. Never revive through open E-Hole lanes without Breacher suppression.
Synergy: Entire squad — a good Medic raises team DPS by reducing downtime. Under-skill Medics are the only class we theorycraft demote hard if players refuse map awareness training.
Breacher build (theorycraft)
Primary: Incinerator Imulsion shotgun for swarm bursts.
Secondary: Gut Puncher timed grenade launcher for choke denial and E-Hole lips.
Utility: Extra explosive charges if available; shell-by-shell reload interrupts between breach phases.
Play loop: Softening with Gut Puncher timed detonations, then Incinerator entry during variant clusters. Seal support means covering closure animations, not stealing the final interact every time — Assault can seal while Breacher suppresses.
Synergy: Demands Medic awareness; Breachers overextend most often. Read How to Close E-Holes for timing overlap.
Four-stack party template
Recommended pre-made squad:
- Medic — anchor player with map callouts
- Breacher — explosive specialist
- Marksman — variant control
- Assault — flexible entry
Duplicating Medic is acceptable on high difficulties; duplicating Breacher without coordinated comms wastes Incinerator overlap.
Multi-squad coordination notes
When more than one fireteam shares the map, classes do not stack responsibilities:
- Each squad still needs at least one Medic-capable player or agreed backup revive plan.
- Breachers from different squads stagger Gut Puncher timing to avoid friendly blast chains.
- Marksmen call cross-squad variant spawns so Assault teams stop over-rotating.
Voice beats pings for Siege — configure audio in the beta checklist before August.
Progression and unlock assumptions
Open Beta may gate weapons behind match count or level — unknown until live. Start leveling Lancer-class rifles and Longshot fundamentals in campaign co-op (Getting Started) so Siege queue times are not your first exposure.
Post-launch, watch Updates for class perk changes that obsolete this theorycraft.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers for Emergence Day prep and launch week.
What Horde Siege classes exist in E-Day?
Four classes launch with Horde Siege: Assault for entry DPS, Marksman for precision, Medic for revives, and Breacher for close-range explosives and E-Hole support.
Which Horde class should I main first?
Learn Medic fundamentals if your squad lacks one, then pick Assault or Marksman for weapon comfort. Breacher rewards explosive timing practice from the E-Holes guide.
Do class builds use the same weapons as campaign?
Weapons overlap — Lancer, Longshot, Incinerator, Gut Puncher — but Horde kits may restrict loadouts. Class Builds are theorycraft until beta confirms unlock rules.
Can two players pick the same class?
Matchmaking may allow duplicates, but coordinated four-stacks should avoid doubling Breacher or Assault without a plan. Always secure at least one Medic.
Where do I learn E-Hole closure for Breachers?
Read How to Close E-Holes for seal timing, then apply Gut Puncher detonation notes from Weapons Overview during Horde objectives.
